While they may be superb for cooling down with on a balmy day, these nutritiously packed smoothies are delicious enough to enjoy year-round. Featuring superfood smoothie blends maca, spirulina and chlorella, boost your daily nutritional intake with options that help you feel good.
What’s more, these vibrant and antioxidant-rich smoothies are deliciously zingy and make a wonderful snack idea. Top with your choice of seasonal fruit and you’re good to go!
The three superfoods: Supergreens, Cacao and Nootropics
Supergreens:
While some foods contain a complex range of nutrients, supergreens are regarded as one of the best for fueling our bodies with. Unlike what you may expect, supergreens are a small group of greens that make up algae and cereal grass like spirulina, wheatgrass, and chlorella. Wheatgrass and chlorella contain high levels of chlorophyll and protein, while spirulina is rich in antioxidants like phenolic acid and beta-carotene.
Cacao:
Recognised for its earthy flavour profile, cacao powder is made by cold-pressing raw cacao beans that are unroasted. When compared to cocoa, cacao concentrates that rich dark chocolate flavour further while cocoa is made using beans that have already been roasted and processed at a much higher temperature. Raw cacao is a great source of magnesium, iron, calcium and potassium, which are fantastic for daily energy.
Nootropics:
Add brain food to your daily diet with a superfood rich in amino acids, minerals and antioxidants. Favoured by athletes, busy professionals and wellness minded individuals, nootropics are easy to incorporate into any diet and taste delicious in smoothies.

Green Goodness Smoothie
This deliciously zingy and refreshing green smoothie is packed with fresh greens, seeds, and Matakana Superfoods Supergreens to kickstart your day. Feel free to add protein, collagen or spirulina powder to give it an extra nutritious boost.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1 kiwifruit
- 1 slice ginger root
- 1 serving Matakana Superfood Supergreens
- 1 Tablespoon Chantal Organics Organic Hemp Seeds
- 1 Tablespoon Matakana Superfoods Chia Seeds
- ½ green apple
- ½ lemon, juiced
- 1 cup filtered water
- ½ cup pineapple or mango (optional)

Ingredients:
- 1 medium ripe banana
- 1 Tablespoon ROAR Organic Cacao Powder
