Our vision at HealthPost is to have a lasting, positive impact on people and planet, and this Earth Month we are celebrating several earth-friendly milestones.

We’ve just completed a big expansion of the solar capacity at our Collingwood premises, where we are now generating more electricity than we consume! Also, the HealthPost Nature Trust has recently stepped up to lead a 200-hectare regeneration project at the base of Farewell Spit, transforming farmland into a biodiversity hotspot.

And of course, we are continuously evolving our range of eco-friendly wellness products and standards to champion the very best in natural wellbeing and sustainable living, for you and for the planet. If you’re wanting to invest in more earth-friendly choices this month, here are a few ethical essentials you might like to try:

BioBalance Astaxanthin

1. BioBalance Astaxanthin

BioBalance Astaxanthin is an algae-sourced red carotenoid and a powerful antioxidant. I take two capsules daily to support healthy aging, especially my vision and skin health. Astaxanthin is also great for exercise recovery, so I take it when tramping to reduce sore muscles. I’m a big fan of algae as an earth-friendly alternative to supplementation, giving us some of the benefits of krill oil, for example, without needing to consume the krill itself. BioBalance is a proudly B Corp certified, Mindful Brand prioritising social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

Misty Day Plant Potions Organic Shroom Squad

2. Misty Day Plant Potions Organic Shroom Squad

Brilliant mushroom blend by beloved Kiwi brand Misty Day! Shroom Squad contains organic extracts of five powerful mushrooms including my personal favourites: reishi and lion’s mane. It tastes surprisingly delicious and makes a great addition to my morning coffee. This blend supports mood, nervous system, immune wellness, gut health, hormonal health, and mental clarity, with no fillers or synthetic ingredients. Mushroom powders can be messy to use so I appreciate the practical, pretty and reusable metal tin.

Living Nature Thickening Mascara – Jet Black

3. Living Nature Thickening Mascara – Jet Black

Living Nature is one of our longest standing Mindful Brands and a true pioneer of natural beauty here in Aotearoa. I’ve used their award-winning Thickening Mascara for years and it never causes irritation to my sensitive eyes. It lasts well, even during a quick swim, yet washes off easily at the end of the day. The Thickening Mascara uses natural ingredients like kaolin clay, castor oil and manuka honey to work to work its magic without chemicals, and it keeps my lashes in good condition.

Lifestream Vegan Omega-3

4. Lifestream Vegan Omega-3

Last year, we removed krill oil products from our range due to potential impacts on marine life in the Southern Ocean. Plant-based, algae supplements are a great earth-friendly option for getting these important nutrients. Lifestream is a trusted Kiwi brand who have been specialising in natural-sourced and organic supplementation for decades. As well as being a more eco-conscious option, this vegan omega has the benefit of no fishy aftertaste!

Absolute Essential Castor Oil: Virgin

5. Absolute Essential Castor Oil: Virgin

Absolute Essential is a superb Aotearoa essential oil brand who have long championed natural extraction methods, organic growing and supply chain responsibility. This certified B Corp produces truly beautiful oils and blends, and I have recently discovered their cold pressed, organic castor oil as an effective deep moisture treatment for face and hands. Castor oil has a range of other healing benefits as well, providing support for joint pain and digestive discomfort to name a few!

AWWA Cotton Basic Period Brief (Black)

6. AWWA Cotton Basic Period Brief (Black)

AWWA period undies are a great way to take the waste out of menstruation. I honestly don’t know how I got by before discovering this female-founded brand: better for the planet, for our health, and economical too. AWWA’s whole range of underwear is so comfy and practical, and I really resonate with their kaupapa (purpose): to end period poverty and give girls and women a more positive experience of menstruation.
