I always do a big HealthPost stock up in December for ethical summer essentials, so that we’ll have what we need on hand for the holiday season. Conventional sunscreens and insect repellents contain chemicals that I’d prefer to avoid, so I carry a natural one of each in my handbag over the summer months. This is a fun but frazzling time of year, so I make sure I’m taking a few natural summer wellness products to boost my own resilience and wellbeing too.

Here are some of my ethical summer essentials:

BioTrace CMD Concentrated Mineral Drops

1. BioTrace CMD Concentrated Mineral Drops

These hydrating mineral drops encourage me to stay hydrated in hot weather, as well as being a handy trace mineral top up at any time of year. I add a few drops to a glass drink bottle when I’m heading out in the car or into the office and tend to drink more water as a result. I’ve recommended these drops to many people, especially those who travel or exercise a lot, or work out in the sun.

BioBalance Ashwagandha Adrenal Restore

2. BioBalance Ashwagandha Adrenal Restore

With all the extra activity over the holiday season, we can end up feeling ‘tired but wired.’ This thoughtful formula combines ashwagandha with magnolia bark extract to noticeably lift energy levels while also supports calm and better sleep. As customer reviews attest, this product can make a real difference to overall energy, mood and resilience at this busy time of year.

Antipodes Supernatural SPF50+ Sunscreen

3. Antipodes Supernatural SPF50+ Sunscreen

It’s a long road to the right natural sunscreen and no one product suits everyone, but this is a winner for me. It glides on easily and I love that it is zinc-based, fragrance-free and all natural. It’s white initially but soon sinks in. The kids are happy to use it too because it’s not sticky. For swimming and body, we also find Goodbye’s Sun Balm SPF40 very reliable.

Munch Reusable Icepops

4. Munch Reusable Icepops

These are a fun, healthy and eco way for the kids to enjoy homemade iceblocks when it’s hot. We were gifted a set years ago and they’re still going strong! In four fun colours, with leakproof lids, they are easy to fill and to clean. The kids use fresh juice, diluted fruit cordials or homemade banana icecream. I prefer silicone ice pop moulds to plastic in the freezer for health and durability.

The Herb Farm Hydrate & Restore Facial Toner

5. The Herb Farm Hydrate & Restore Facial Toner

I’m a big fan of facial mist toners, especially in summer. If I’ve been travelling or out in the garden, it’s a great way to quickly refresh my skin and my mood! I keep it in the fridge for a cooling effect, and the colloidal gold in this toner makes it very calming and restorative. I also love their Nourish & Glow Facial Toner.

Skybright Collodial Silver Aloe Vera Gel

6. Skybright Collodial Silver Aloe Vera Gel

This is such a handy product for the summer months. Again, I keep it in the fridge so it’s extra cooling for sunburn relief. It works wonders when the kids have had too much sun and it’s also fantastic for calming insect bites and rashes and treating minor scrapes. For many other uses, check out the customer reviews: this natural aloe vera gel is a beloved all-rounder!
