What is Cacay Oil?
Cacay oil is a non-irritating, natural source of vitamin A (AKA a bio-retinol), which stimulates cell renewal to refine skin texture and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Why am I so excited about it? Cacay oil delivers the same anti-aging results as synthetic retinol without the irritating side-effects, which means it can be used from day one with no discomfort, without the tolerance issues that are common with synthetic retinol.
How does Cacay oil benefit your skin?
- Potent source of vitamin A and vitamin E
- Boosts collagen and cell regeneration, to help address the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Nourishing and protecting properties improve skin firmness and guard against environmental aggressors
- Helps minimise the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
Cacay oil is gentle and effective for all skin types. It’s free from synthetic retinols, so it’s safe for use during pregnancy and suitable if you are taking certain medications that mean you need to avoid synthetic retinol.
Touted as a ‘miracle oil’, it comes from the nut of the cacay tree, which is native to South America. Cacay oil’s growing popularly as a skincare ingredient is good news for the forests where it grows. Previously, cacay trees were used for their wood (they’re famously fast-growing), but now local communities are harvesting the nuts instead, and planting more cacay forests to make the most of the growing interest in the nutrient-rich oil.
How do you incorporate cacay oil into your skincare regime?
I’m thrilled to introduce Antipodes’ newest launch, Eve Bio-Retinol Line Reduction Serum, which features organic cacay oil as its key active ingredient, along with another potent natural anti-aging powerhouse, bakuchiol.
Bakuchiol, as you may already know, is a natural retinol alternative derived from the babchi plant. It mimics the effects of retinol without any irritation. It unites in Eve Bio-Retinol Line Reduction Serum with cacay oil to deliver a double dose of anti-ageing benefits, to help smooth the skin and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles in a light, silky concentrate.
Eve also features organic prickly pear oil, an antioxidant-rich oil which is extremely high in vitamin E and amino acids to support cell renewal and nurture smoother, fuller-looking skin.
Backed by robust scientific evidence
As with Antipodes’ entire collagen-boosting Anti-Aging range, Eve is backed by science. It is scientifically shown in-vitro to stimulate Type I collagen production in human fibroblast skin cells by 55%*.
An in-vivo user trial showed the serum’s ability to effectively target signs of aging: 97% said skin feels smoother after four weeks’ use and 68% saw a visible reduction in fine line and wrinkles.
I love using Eve as part of my evening skincare ritual. I wash off all traces of the day with Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser & Makeup Remover, then I press a few drops of the bio-retinol serum into my face, neck and décolletage. I follow up with Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream and Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream and in the morning, I wake up to skin that’s plumped, nourished and looking its very best.
Eve is 100% natural origin, certified organic and vegan, and features a subtle COSMOS-certified pure-plant fragrance of deep rose.
