🍄Hi Protein Reishi Chocolate Mousse🍫
It's the last day of reishi week. So I thought I would end on a high note with this easy reishi mousse.
Reishi tends to be bitter which means great things for digestion and detoxification BUT it's a flavour we don't often taste. For this reason it may take a minute to get used to the reishi flavour.
In the meantime you can disguise the bitterness with strong flavours like chocolate and vanilla and spices.
This dessert is functional, delicious and really is so easy. And with a base of tofu it's high in protein.
100g dark chocolate
300g silken tofu - room temperature
2 tbsn maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp reishi extract
Melt the chocolate and slightly cool
Blitz all other ingredients I'm the food processor then add the melted chocolate and blitz more until smooth. Pour into little bowls and leave for an hour to set.
Perfect for dessert or a cheeky Sunday breakfast!
🍄Reishi for Calm🍄
I think out of all the questions I get asked ( and it's a lot), the most common is " what can I take for anxiety?"
Now, there are so many facets to anxiety - nutritional, gut brain axis stuff, inflammation, blood sugar dysregulation, a shitty environment, lack of support, hormonal disruption, amongst others. . Getting to the root cause is important for long standing recovery.
That said, as part of the process, I do tend to recommend reishi for a nervous and adrenal response that's always on high alert.
From a purely mechanistic viewpoint reishi has adaptogenic qualities which help fortify against stressful life circumstances; beta glucans feed and train beneficial gut flora, triterpenes balance inflammation, bitter principles support digestive processes, nutrient absorption and hormonal processing.
But most pertinently reishi calms the spirit and mind and allows for the break of deep sleep to come . It breaks down thoughts and feelings that no longer serve, leaving space for a calm and clear outlook.

🍄🍄Reishi🍄🍄
Ganoderma lucidem
The queen of the fungi family. Her reign is one of peace and calm. She calms the spirit, helpful for those who cannot relax, feel nervous, tired and sleepless especially in the face of stress. She calms an immune system that reacts to innocuous substances like pollen and foods.
Her reign is one of power and protection. She protects cells from environmental damage while protecting and supporting the immune system. Her reign has heart. She protects and feeds both the physical and emotional heart especially when there is grief or the spirit is vulnerable.
She certainly sits on a throne for me. She has helped me through some tough emotional times alongside her courtier Rose🥀
Do you use Reishi? How has she benefited you?
